余文生博士简介：
美国加州大学伯克莱分校语言学博士，台湾中研院语言学研究所副研究员。过去几年主要从事羌语音系学和语音学研究。现主要从事北部羌语语音、达让僜语形态句法调查研究。

报告提要：
The present study explores the relationships between tense/aspect morphemes and discourse connectives in Tawra (a.k.a Digaru), an underdocumented Tibeto-Burman language. Using a corpus of texts collected by two of the authors (both native speakers of Tawra), tense/aspect suffixes and discourse connective suffixes were analyzed for form and function. It was found that about twenty morphemes and morpheme combinations occur as suffixes both on verbs and also on the demonstrative pronoun we ‘that’, turning it into discourse connectives. Thus far, all discourse affixes that have been found also appear as verbal affixes and/or as postpositions, although the reverse is not true. Based on the semantic relationships between the uses of these affixes, the study concludes that Tawra verb suffixes have been appropriated as suffixes on discourse connectives.
