Abstract: Reviews the book, Counseling and psychotherapy with Arabs and Muslims: A culturally sensitive approach by Marwan Dwairy (see record 2006-04364-000). This book presents information about Muslim and Arab cultural values, development, personality, assessment issues, and treatment practices relating to Arabs and Muslims in the Middle East, as well as in the United States. This book provides a significant contribution to the mental health literature. It does an impressive job of summarizing some of the major issues involved with Arab and Muslim populations. Its readability makes it accessible to practitioners and others who want to learn more about Arab and Muslim peoples. Very little is written about Arabs and Muslims in the mental health literature, and this book helps address some of these gaps by providing a much-needed guide for individuals working with this cultural group.
